Literacy Festival: Black Children's Book Week Kickoff
Lovett Memorial Library
Black Children's Book Week is a global celebration of Black children and the people who ensure that Black children are represented in books and other children's media. This program is designed to help bridge the gap between home and school, specifically intended to help children transition from 100% being at home to being in daycare or school during the week.
Join us for book giveaways, local authors reading or speaking, information tables set up to connect families with local literacy-related resources, library tours, light refreshments and more.
12:00 - 12:45 p.m. Thembi Palmer will do her storytime.
1:00 - 1:45 p.m. The Amazing Mr. Q will do a performance.
This program is made possible by First Up, a group who empowers and equips early childhood professionals, families, and other adults influential in young children's lives. Designed for ages 2 to 6 years old, along with their caregivers, program will run from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
