Black Hair Care 101 (for Teens!)
Field Teen Center at Parkway Central Library
Learn the history of black haircare from Africa to present with Michelle Prince, founder of NowIAmNappy. We will focus on the impact of society on black hair culture and how black hair culture has impacted the world. We will highlight how some of these practices have negatively impacted black hair including alopecia (hair loss) and scalp related issues in the black community and an introduction into Ayurvedic Hair Care.
Programs at the Field Teen Center are open to individuals ages 12 to 18. Organized groups (including camp groups and school groups) must contact the Teen Center to see if special arrangements are possible.
