New Americans Spring Concert Series: TIMBALONA
Parkway Central Library
The Music Department and the New Americans Committee at the Free Library of Philadelphia invite you to celebrate the unique cultural heritage of Philadelphia’s immigrant communities with the New Americans Spring Concert Series. In April, May and June, we’ll offer three free pop-up concerts in the Grand Lobby of the Parkway Central Library, each celebrating music from one voice in the community of Philadelphia’s new locals.
TIMBALONA
Formed in 2010 by professional percussionists Andres Cisneros (Venezuela) and Christian Noguera (Argentina), TIMBALONA is a percussion collective focusing on folklore and popular music from the Caribbean and Latin America. TIMBALONA spreads their mission of unity, community building and cultural exchange through music. Exclusively for their New Americans Concert Series performance, TIMBALONA will showcase Afro-Caribbean folkloric music with special guest Nicky Laboy from New York City.
