Danza Azteca del Anahuac: A Mesoamerica Prayer Dance (Grand Lobby)
Parkway Central Library
The Group “Danza Azteca del Anahuac” showcases Aztec dances and traditional costumes. They believe dance is a prayer in movement, in which a person, by means of these movements, is generating energy that elevates to the universe. These movements were very important in the lives of Mexican (Aztecs) and throughout Mesoamerica; for them it was a way to express the honor and gratitude to the guardians of nature and life givers.
Also between intermissions you will be able to visit cultural tables with artifacts from traditional Mexican customs.
This program is presented by the Mexican Cultural Center, and the Mexican Consulate in Philadelphia, and sponsored by the Strategic Initiatives Department of the Free Library of Philadelphia.
