Police Protection for Strip Miners. Pittsburgh, PA. A state police prowl car cruises around the area of the Sunnyhill Coal Company where strip miners are at work. One of the strip mine truck drivers was reported to have been beaten by five roving pickets yesterday. At left a loaded coal car is being drifted away from a loading tipple. State police cars were sent out to protect the strip miners operating here. December 6th, 1946. 2:47pm EST
