Gift of J. J. Mason Warner Elective Brake & Clutch Co. on August 11th, 1972.
This can demonstrates the invention of Mr. Warner-the speedometer. The large model mounted on the rear of this automobile actually worked. The car was a Stoddard Dayton. Automobile and demonstrator were shipped from Beloit to New York City in the early 1900's for tour of several large Eastern cities. When the car toured Washington D.C it drove in front of the White House. Teddy Roosevelt, then President, saw the car and was so pleased he got in and rode around the White House block. Mr. A.P. Warner is in the drivers sat on the right hand side of the car and his brother, Charles is on the left.
