Notes:
October, 10, 1945. Return of gas snarls, New York traffic. A graphic illustration of the critical situation caused by traffic jams in New York since the release of gasoline supplies, is this scene at E. 51st Street Between Park and Madison Avenues. These blithe motorists evidently do not believe the signs which are placed on the street restricting parking between 8am and 6pm. Business houses in the city are suffering tremendous loss due to the lagging traffic. James J. Sheehy, commanding police traffic division, says one of the reasons for the congested streets is the current disregard of parking.
