Trailer Camps. (Part of Series). GI Trailer Homes at University.

Columbia, Mo. Home for some 65 of the 600 veterans attending the University of Missouri is in a little more than 200 square feet of highly concentrated living space. House trailers provide the veterans and their families with homes of their own, even if living in them does mean utilizing community bathhouses and laundries. The trailers, leased from the National Housing Authority, have no wheels, and can trail only when placed upon a truck. The veterans pay $15 a month for these living quarters and the University furnishes electricity and fuel oil. The trailers have permanent running water and sewer connections, and permanent electric current hook-up. Here, Mrs. Louis Cowan, of Springfield, Mo., comes to the door of her trailer home while Carol Lyn, 2, investigates the new boardwalks. Daddy has gone to class at law school. November 2nd, 1945.
