This 1949 automobile is a landmark in Buick styling, for it incorporates three identifying features that are distinctly Buick. It is the automobile industry's first production model hardtop--a design pioneered by Buick. It is Buick's first car with a sweepspear, and it has the ventiports which made their initial public appearance on regular 1949 models only a few months earlier. Buick and GM stylists, whose studios now are located at the new GM Technical Center, worked together to produce these Buick "trademarks".
