Notes: Ford Motor Co., Dearborn, Mich. Gift of John S. Hammond 12/7/72. The first Model T manufactured by Ford Motor Company appeared on the roads Oct. 1, 1908. Closed models began making their appearance in 1909, but this was the first two-door sedan introduced to the public. The old advertisement explained, "for social functions, shopping and general uses -- $975 F.O.B. Detroit." The Ford Motor Company had been manufacturing in the Highland Park plant since 1909 and already the Rouge property had been acquired. On Dec. 10, 1915 the 1,000,000th Ford car rolled from the production line.
