SECOND REVISED FORD “J” CAR
January, 1967 – A second revision of the “J” Car was tested at Daytona International Speedway. This test proved the increased chassis rigidity and weight savings offered by the chassis design, which followed the basic concepts developed in the Mark II program but employed a unique new hull or substructure of honeycomb aluminum. However, the original body configuration was finally rejected because of aerodynamic problems.
