FORD MARK IV – FIRST VICTORY
APRIL 1, 1967 – The Ford Mark IV made an impressive debut in the 12-hour Sebring race. Driven by Mario Andretti and Bruce McLaren, the Mark IV easily won this Le Mans warm-up at an average of 102.9 m.p.h. A Ford Mark II-A, driven by Lloyd Ruby and A. J Foyt, finished second. Results of the Mark IV debut were so encouraging that Ford readied four of the new sports-prototype vehicles for the 1967 24-hours le Mans race, June 10-11.
