Ford Motor Company’s factory stock car team will be the one to beat when the inaugural Talladega 500-mile race gets underway on Sunday, September 14 1969, at the new Alabama International Motor Speedway. Members of the talented team form a horseshoe around Ford’ Boss 429 engine, the new powerplant that will propel Ford fortunes in the Talledega race. Counter-clockwise, from upper left, are: Richard Petty, Cale Yarborough, David Pearson, Donnie Allison and LeeRoy Yarbrough.
