Notes:
Describing Gaston (Gus) Andrey is like describing a history of successful U.S. road racing. The Framingham, Mass. Auto dealer has won six National championships over an 11-year period in four different classes driving a variety of cars. He won class E production driving a Morgan in 1955 and last year won the Northeast Formula B class driving an Alfa Romeo-powered Lotus 22. In the years between, among many exploits, Andrey drove Maseratis and Ferraris to a D modified championship and to E modified championships three times. He has competed and finished well at Sebring and Nassau, and won the Road America 500 driving with Lance Reventlow. This year the 39-year-old Swiss-born Andrey is concentrating on SCCA’s trans-American Sedan Championship, driving a favored Alfa Romeo GTA. He co-drove to fourth in class in the opening event in the series, the Sebring 4-hour, and came right back with a first in class in the Mid-America 300.
