The J-2000 is offered in only a 5,000-pound-GVW rating, while the longer J-4000 models are available at 5,000, 6,000, 7,000 and 8,000-pound ratings. Standard engine is the 145-h.p., 232-c.i.d. “Hi-Torque” overhead valve 6-cylinder. The optional “Dauntless” V-8 has a 350-c.i.d. and develops 230 h.p. Made to be tough on the job and easy-going for fun, the Gladiator models offer a full complement of standard performance and trim features, a complete line of safety features and an extended list of optional accessories and special equipment. All these plus the unequalled Jeep 4-Wheel Drive system give the Jeep Gladiator models the undisputed edge for off-road ruggedness and “go-everywhere” operation.
