NEW KAISER CAR FEATURES ‘PACKAGED POWER’
This phantom view of the new Kaiser car shows the new ‘packaged power’ front-wheel-drive and the new ‘torsionetic’ suspension, two of the outstanding features of the new car, details of which were disclosed for the first time today by West Coast industrialist Henry J. Kaiser, chairman of the Kaiser-Frazer Corporation. The ‘packaged power’ assembly combines engine (1), clutch (20, transmission (3), and final drive assembly (4) in a single unit which can be lifted clear of the integral body-and-frame for easy service. The new ‘torsionetic’ suspension, developed and thoroughly tested during the past four years provides independent springing for each wheel through spindle (A), supporting arm (B), and torsion-bar spring (C), anchored at (D). The springing effect is achieved through the twisting section of the steel bar. Hydraulic shock absorbers are included in the assembly.
