Teen Poetry Slam Rocks Central Library

The Free Library of Philadelphia will again hold the annual Teen Poetry Slam on Friday, April 8, at 3:30 p.m. in the Montgomery Auditorium of the Central Library, 1901 Vine Street.

The event is emceed by local spoken word artist Lamont Dixon. Teens perform original works for prizes. Last year over 50 teens participated. The judges this year include WRTI DJ Mike Harris, Johnnie Buckley of the Wilma Theater, Jacqueline Taylor Adams of First World Theater Company, and poet and librarian Michelle Belluomini.

The Poetry Slam is the culmination of a series of workshops on poetry and spoken word led by Lamont "Napalm" Dixon. Teens must register in advance to participate. For more information or registration, call 215-686-5415.
