Books Aloud! Brings Literacy to Life

The Free Library of Philadelphia's Books Aloud! program offers parents and teachers of preschool age children creative ways to develop early literacy skills. In April, attendees will explore the topic "Award Winning Books & Beyond: Classics and Family Favorites."

Books Aloud! workshops are held at a variety of Free Library locations, and include materials to take home. In April the schedule is as follows:

  • Wednesday, 4/6, at 6:30 p.m. at the Donatucci Branch, 1935 Shunk Street
  • Wednesday, 4/6, at 7 p.m. at the Bustleton Branch, 10199 Bustleton Avenue
  • Wednesday, 4/6, at 7 p.m. at the Chestnut Hill Branch, 8711 Germantown Avenue
  • Saturday, 4/9, at 2 p.m. at the Central Library, 1901 Vine Street (a simultaneous preschool activity will be provided at this location.)
  • Saturday, 4/9, at 3 p.m., at the Durham Branch, 3320 Haverford Avenue
  • Monday, 4/11, at 6:30 p.m. at the West Oak Lane Branch, 2000 Washington Lane
  • Monday 4/11, at 7 p.m. at the Bustleton Branch, 10199 Bustleton Avenue
  • Tuesday, 4/12, at 1 p.m. at the McPherson Square Branch, 601 E. Indiana Avenue
  • Wednesday, 4/13, at 1 p.m. at the Haddington Branch, 446 N. 65th Street
  • Monday, 4/18, at 6:30 p.m. at the Fox Chase Branch, 501 Rhawn Street
  • Monday, 4/18, at 6:30 p.m. at the Logan Branch, 13333 Wagoner Avenue
  • Wednesday, 4/20, at 6:30 p.m. at the Independence Branch, 18 S. 7th Street
  • Monday, 4/25, at 6:30 p.m. at the Blanche A. Nixon/Cobbs Creek Branch, 5800 Cobbs Creek Parkway.
