FREE LIBRARY TO OFFER SPEED DATING FOR LITERATURE LOVERS

SPEED DATING EVENTS ACROSS THE BRANCHES IN TIME FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

Philadelphia, January 19, 2012—Looking for love this Valentine’s Day? Find it at the Free Library of L’amour! The Free Library of Philadelphia will present multiple speed dating events for single adults of all ages during the first week of February. Participants are encouraged to bring a book they loved, hated, or just recently read to use as an ice-breaker. One lucky couple at each event will win Author Events tickets to see Anne Rice, bestselling author of The Vampire Chronicles series, and have their first date at the Free Library on Valentine’s Day.

The speed dating meetings are as follows:

Events for singles age 25 to 35:

Events for single Latinos age 25 to 35:

• Lillian Marrero Branch Library
Saturday, February 11, 2:00 p.m.

Events for single Queer men and women age 25 to 35:

• Independence Branch Library
Monday, February 6, 6:00 p.m.

Events for singles age 35 to 45:

• Tacony Branch Library
Wednesday, February 8, 6:00 p.m.

Events for singles over age 50:

• Parkway Central Library
Wednesday, February 8, 2:00 p.m.

Siobhan Reardon, President and Director of the Free Library says, “Whether it’s to meet a date for Valentine’s Day or a just a friend with similar taste in books, our speed dating events are a fantastic way of bringing community members together in a wonderful neighborhood resource like the Library.”

Speed dating at the Library is free but requires preregistration. At the event, participants’ names and contact information will remain private and will only be revealed, via email from Library staff, if a mutual match is made.
