PARKWAY CENTRAL LIBRARY TO HOST COMMUNITY RESOURCES FAIR
Fair will connect non-profit organizations and government agencies with Philadelphians seeking information and assistance on a variety of issues
PHILADELPHIA, June 6, 2012—The Free Library of Philadelphia will host a comprehensive Community Resources Fair on Tuesday, June 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Parkway Central Library, 1901 Vine Street. The Fair will connect area non-profit organizations and government agencies that specialize in a variety of issues—from health care and employment to housing, food access, and finance—with Philadelphians seeking information and assistance.
“The Free Library is proud to host this exciting Community Resource Fair, which brings together so many helpful organizations and agencies under one roof,” said Siobhan A. Reardon, Free Library President and Director. “Instead of spending their limited time calling around and traveling to several different locations throughout the city, Philadelphians can visit the Community Resources Fair at the Free Library and get all of the help they need in once place.”
“Times are tough,” added Bob Sisson, Government Publications Librarian and coordinator of the Community Resources Fair. “Here’s the chance for people to get the help they need and learn all about the great resources of the Free Library at the same time.”
Participating organizations at the Community Resources Fair include Affordable Housing Centers of Pennsylvania; Americorps; CareerLink; Career Wardrobe; The Center Foundation; Coalition Against Hunger; Community Legal Services of Philadelphia; Congreso de Latinos Unidos; Clarifi, the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the Delaware Valley; Goodwill of Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia; Impact Services; Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped; Mayor’s Commission on Literacy; Mayor’s Office of Community Services; Menzfit; Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Bureau of Consumer Protection; Pennsylvania Office of the Consumer Advocate; People’s Emergency Center; Philadelphia Federal Credit Union; Project H.O.M.E.; Resources for Human Development; Social Security Administration; and the Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians.
