Three Free Library of Philadelphia Librarians Recognized for Outstanding Service

The Free Library of Philadelphia is pleased to announce that three of its librarians have been recognized for their outstanding professional achievements by the City of Philadelphia and by the national Library Journal magazine.

Ann Hornbach, Children’s Librarian and Manager of Torresdale Library, is the recipient of this year’s Richardson Dilworth Award for Excellence in Customer Service. Established by Mayor Michael A. Nutter, the Richardson Dilworth Award for Excellence in Customer Service in Philadelphia recognizes the contributions of an outstanding public employee whose work performance embodies excellence in customer service. Ann is known throughout the Free Library system for her service to children with autism and other physical and mental disabilities. The energy and enthusiasm she brings to serving special needs children helps them feel engaged and appreciated and gives them a sense of pride in their accomplishments.

In addition, Adam Feldman and Perry Genovesi, Librarians in the Music Department at Parkway Central Library, have been recognized by Library Journal as 2015 Movers and Shakers,” for their efforts to not only expand the services libraries provide but to transform libraries themselves in the 21st century.  Adam and Perry have pioneered a unique and celebrated collaboration between the Free Library and the region’s vibrant music community, hosting the Mysterious Travelers Concert Series featuring area jazz musicians, as well as chamber music performances and other musical gatherings.

“Our librarians are truly world class in their commitment to our customers and their willingness to think outside the box to present unique programming and ensure that they are best serving all who come to the Free Library,” says Siobhan A. Reardon, President and Director. “I am so proud of Ann, Adam, and Perry for their wonderful achievements!”
