SIGN UP FOR HEALTHCARE WITH THE HELP OF THE FREE LIBRARY

Assisters Available to Help Philadelphians Sign Up for Health Insurance Under the Affordable Care Act

PHILADELPHIA, November 2, 2015—The Free Library of Philadelphia is pleased to again help individuals sign up for health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act by offering free appointments with assisters during the Marketplace Open Enrollment period from November 1 through January 31, 2016. Federally funded expert navigators and assisters will provide guidance at several libraries throughout the city; these locations were chosen based on current information on the insurance needs within Philadelphia. Counselors will also be able to assist consumers who qualify for Medicaid.

Since the launch of the Marketplace three years ago, more than 500,000 people in Pennsylvania have signed up for insurance. The Free Library is partnering with the following organizations to provide this service in Philadelphia: Cognosante, Public Health Management Corporation, The Health Federation of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Health Access Network, and Enroll America.

“The Free Library is so proud to aid Philadelphians through the enrollment process and to promote this essential element of health literacy,” said Siobhan A. Reardon, President and Director. “Assisters are here to support and empower customers through this critical process.”
