Author Events Returns for Fall Season at the Free Library

PHILADELPHIA, August 24, 2022— The Fall Season of the Free Library of Philadelphia’s Author Events series is bringing dozens of celebrated names for in-person events at the Parkway Central Library. This series brings more than 120 novelists, poets, journalists, historians, journalists, cooks, and other luminaries to the Parkway Central Library’s Montgomery Auditorium for great conversations each year.

Tickets are on sale now for the Fall 2022 Season, which includes readings and conversations with authors including Jenifer Lewis, Buzz Bissinger, Jodi Picoult, Maggie Haberman, Celeste Ng, Patti Smith, and many more.

“While our Author Events series hosted a mix of virtual and in-person events over the past two years, we are excited to bring a Fall Season that will fill the Montgomery Auditorium at Parkway Central Library with guests to hear talented and diverse voices from throughout the literary world,” said Andy Kahan, The Ruth W. and A Morris Williams, Jr., director of the Author Events series.

The season kicks off with a free (but already full) event August 28, when Adam Schiff will discuss his book Midnight in Washington: How We Almost Lost Our Democracy and Still Could with broadcaster Tracey Matisak. More free events throughout the season include: Tommie Smith, Saidiya Hartman and Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, Elizabeth McCracken with Yiyun Li, and Tyler Kepner.

Other not-to-miss events include conversations with Orhan Pamuk, Ada Limón, Charlayne Hunter-Gault, Rabia Chaudry, Anna Badkhen, Kardea Brown, Anand Giridharadas, Ian McEwan, Gary Shteyngart, Vladimir Sorokin, Kerri Greenidge, George Lakey and Varshini Prakash, Jann Wenner, Deb Perelman, Ben Macintyre, Mehdi Hasan, Camika Royal, Ross Gay and Major Jackson, and Stacy Schiff, among others.

Inaugurated in 1994, the Author Events program at the Free Library of Philadelphia offers the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue with today’s most celebrated voices in the humanities and sciences, all made possible by the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation. Since its inception, the program has grown and now presents more than 120 authors each year in addition to the Field Family Teen Author Series.

Most events also available as a podcast uploaded to the Free Library’s website afterward.
