McPherson Square Library Hosts Teen Summer Job Fair
PHILADELPHIA, April 6, 2023—Teens seeking summer employment opportunities are invited to join McPherson Square Library April 13, from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. for a resource fair in the park that will include employers sharing job opportunities, resources for job seekers, as well as free food and drink.
During the fair, employers will be on site with job openings, and city agencies and other organizations will be on hand to assist teens with the documents they need to apply for jobs. Teens can get assistance creating resumes, obtaining photo identification, filling out job applications, and preparing for job interviews. Teens wishing to obtain a City ID are encouraged to pre-register in advance at https://rb.gy/6rtctk.
“It can be difficult entering the work force, especially if it is your first time, so we are here to assist teens in the area overcome some of those obstacles that might otherwise discourage them from doing so,” said Bryan Belknap, LEAP Youth Advocate at McPherson Square Library.
The Teen Summer Job Fair will be presented with support from Impact, the Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation, Friends of McPherson Square Library. The job fair is made possible by funding from Citizens through the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation. McPherson Square staff will be joined by organizations including Philadelphia Youth Network, Community Center at Visitation, FAB Youth Philly, Congreso, United Way, Philadelphia Legal Assistance, New Kensington Community Development Corporation, HACE, and many more. City agencies including the Department of Public Health, the Department of Labor, Parks and Recreations, and City ID will be on hand as well.
