In the Path of Islam, in collaboration with Al-Bustan Seed of Culture, are excited to announce the return of the well-received, virtual, free Arabic conversation classes this February and March.
Students will practice the sounds and letters of the Arabic language and will be introduced to basic grammar, common vocabulary, and phrases. Wednesday classes begin February 2 at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday morning classes start February 6 at 10:30 a.m. Dr. Fadi Skeiker from the University of the Arts will teach both classes for five consecutive weeks.
Registration is free but required. You can register once for all five classes.
Starting March 9 at 6:30 pm. Professor Skeiker will teach Arabic Artistic Expressions, a class taught mostly in English, which will introduce students to iconic Arab theater, songs, videos, and films. Toward the end of the section, students will produce artistic expressions that sum up their learnings. This could include short theater scenes, videos, digital expressions, or any work the student chooses. This class also meets on Zoom for five consecutive weeks on Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. beginning March 9 and ending on April 6, 2022. Students may take this artistic expression class in addition to or in lieu of an Arabic language class.
This program is funded by the Building Bridges Program of the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art.
