This school year, college and test prep workshops return to the Free Library, hosted by Field Teen Center in partnership with The Alexander Advantage.
This free series is for youth ages 12–18 and includes both in-person and virtual sessions. Virtual sessions will be accessible on the Free Library Teen Central Youtube channel.
Fall workshops will explore paying for college and college essay writing, with both in-person and virtual sessions.
- Saturday, October 7, 2023: 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. → Financial Aid Prep for Teens and Parents (Virtual)
- Saturday, November 18, 2023: 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. → Scholarship Opportunities for Teens and Parents (Virtual)
- Saturday, December 9, 2023: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. → College Essay Workshop (In-Person)
Spring workshops will take a deeper dive into the SAT, a standardized test widely used for college admissions in the United States. In addition to instruction on each section of the test (Reading, Writing, and Math), there will also be two proctored practice exams. Students who attend all five in-person SAT workshop sessions will receive a $10 gift card. To register, call 215-686-5395 or email TeenCenter@freelibrary.org.

- Saturday, February 10, 2024: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. → SAT Reading
- Saturday, March 2, 2024: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. → SAT Writing
- Saturday, April 13, 2024: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. → SAT Mathematics
- Saturday, May 11, 2024: 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. → SAT Post-Proctored Exam
