Teen Suicide and Anti-LGBT Bullying

What would you do if someone secretly set up your webcam to record you in private, and then streamed that video over the internet?

What would you do if you couldn’t walk to school at the same time as everybody else because every day kids called you faggot and sissy?

What would you do if a teacher told other girls not to let you share the bathroom with them because you were a tomboy or a dyke? The good news is that it gets better. The bad news is that not everybody can wait for it to get better.

Children and teens all over the country face situations like these everyday. And in the past month, at least 4 of them--two 13 year olds, one 15 year old and one 19 year old--have killed themselves because they thought that dying was easier than having to persevere. But it's not!

If you are a teen who is feeling sad and like you have no other choices, give a call to 866 488 7368 (866 4U-TREVOR), a toll-free help line that’s available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Or you can visit the Attic Youth Center, where you can meet other teens, talk to a counselor, prepare for your GED, and hang out, all totally for free. The Attic is at 255 South 16th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102, and you can call then at (215) 545-4331.
