Local Author Lori L. Tharps to Appear at Wadsworth Branch

By Michelle S. RSS Tue, November 2, 2010

Local author Lori L. Tharps will be reading and signing copies of her new novel, Substitute Me, on Tuesday, November 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Wadsworth Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia. With unforgettable characters and set in pre-9/11 Brooklyn, Substitute Me illuminates the complexity of intimate relationships, both professional and romantic. Booklist calls Substitute Me a "lively modern domestic drama about why we are who we are."

Tharps is an assistant professor of journalism at Temple University. She has been a staff writer for Vibe magazine and a correspondent for Entertainment Weekly, and her work continues to appear in publications such as Glamour and Essence. She has authored several books, including the highly acclaimed Kinky Gazpacho and Hair Story: Untangling the Roots of Black Hair in America.

For more information about this event, please contact the Wadsworth Branch at 215-685-9293.
