By Michelle S. RSS Wed, November 3, 2010

We're proud to announce that the Free Library has received the 2010 "Star Community Commitment to Education" EDDY Award from the Philadelphia Education Fund! We're being honored for our work in providing all segments of Philadelphia's diverse population with a comprehensive collection of recorded knowledge, ideas, artistic expression, and information in a variety of media, including current technology; assuring ease of access to these materials; and providing programs to stimulate the awareness and use of these resources.

The EDDY Award ceremony will take place on November 16 at Drexel University. Accepting the EDDY on behalf of the Free Library will be President and Director Siobhan A. Reardon and Robert C. Heim, Chairman of the Free Library of Philadelphia Board of Trustees. The Free Library joins a distinguished group of past EDDY Award recipients including Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, poet, and actress Jill Scott (2006) and Pennsylvania Governor and former Mayor of Philadelphia Ed Rendell (2007), among many honorees.
