iPhone and Android devices can read ebooks!

By Jen W. RSS Mon, December 20, 2010

Just in time for the holidays, you can now download ebooks to your iPhone, iPod Touch and Android device! It only appears to work  with EPUB formatted ebooks, not PDFs, at this time. You can still use Bluefire to download PDFs and you will still need to use Bluefire for the iPad until that app gets released.  See my post on Bluefire for more information.

I've only been able to test it on an iPhone so far, but I do love the new "Get Books" feature where you can save the Free Library of Philadelphia as your library so you have a quick link to our content right from the app.

If you have found some fun features in the Android release, please post them in the comments for everyone to learn from!

Have a question for Free Library staff? Please submit it to our Ask a Librarian page and receive a response within two business days.

It's pretty easy convert a PDF file in ePub. Is it possibile using free program like Calibre o some webtool http://www.appleapps.it/2011/libri/convertire-i-pdf-in-epub-semplicemente-ecco-il-video-tutorial/

I love these new features. It is amazing how far we have come so far. I can only begin to imagine where we might be in 5-10 years with smartphones. Gary http://gamecentergames.com
