Free Summer Fun for the Family at Parkway Central Library

By Michelle S. RSS Tue, August 2, 2011

Finding inexpensive family entertainment in Center City is difficult. Philadelphia has wonderful museums, theaters, and music venues, but even programs priced for families can add up. As part of the Free Library’s Summer Reading program, the Parkway Central Library presents a series of free programs on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. in the Montgomery Auditorium. Magician Michael Chamberlin will be presenting his fast paced original spell binding sorcery on Wednesday, August 3. The super duper family rock band Baze and His Silly Friends will present their musical show on August 10.

In addition to our programs on Wednesdays, Summer Sunday programs are held in the Montgomery Auditorium at 2:00 p.m. On Sunday, August 7, join Steve Pullara and his band Cool Beans Music for a fun-filled afternoon of music for the whole family to enjoy. August 14 brings Catskill Puppet Theater, which will present a delightful musical production of the Ethiopian folktale, "The Lion’s Whiskers."

These programs are presented by the Margaret S. Halloran Family Literacy Program series.

Whether you and your family live in the Philadelphia area or are visiting our city, take advantage of some wonderful free family entertainment and stop by the Parkway Central Library!
