Hooray for Ice Cream!

By Susan B. RSS Wed, July 24, 2013

July is National Ice Cream Month!

Celebrate with your favorite “scoop” of Children’s books all about ice cream. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Infants and toddlers will enjoy turning the board book pages as you read the delightful book Yummy Ice Cream by Emma Quay.

  • Have fun laughing and reading together Should I Share My Ice Cream? from the wonderful Elephant and Piggie series, created by Mo Willems.

  • Older preschoolers will love Gail Gibbon’s book Ice Cream: The Full Scoop. They will be fascinated to learn how ice cream was first made centuries ago, and discover how an ice cream factory works today. I highly recommend books by author Gail Gibbons as an excellent way to introduce non-fiction reading to preschoolers.

Please search the FLP catalog for our wonderful selection.

Have fun reading!

If there's one thing that kids in love, it's ice cream! This seems like a great way to inspire early readers.
