Overdrive renewals are here at last!

By Jamie W. RSS Wed, October 9, 2013

You've asked for it and now it's finally happened. Beginning this week you will be able to renew your downloadable Free Library ebooks and audiobooks from OverDrive.  Here's how it works:

  • Three days before your loan is set to expire, you will have the option to renew from your Account page at our OverDrive site.
  • If an item is on hold for another reader, you will not be able to renew it, though you can get on the waiting list before your current checkout expires (a feature that was previously not available).

More information on OverDrive renewals is available at the OverDrive help center. Enjoy this new feature of our downloadable collection!

I just renewed two books. Just to be clear, even if nobody is waiting for your book, "renewing" the book puts you back on the Holds list, and then you MUST check out the book again, and (for my Kindle books) you MUST download the books again. If you don't do all three steps, (Renewing, Checking out, Downloading), your book will disappear from your Kindle.
