Here are the Top 10 ebooks downloaded from the Free Library's OverDrive Digital Library in October 2014.

More than 62,000 ebooks were checked out and downloaded for the month!

Taking the number one spot this month was the holiday-themed romance The Christmas Wedding Ring. There were 2 other Romance titles that made the most-downloaded list this month and for some additional romance-themed reading, check out this recent issue of Entertainment Weekly that put a spotlight on the genre. Mystery and Suspense Thrillers filled the majority of this month's Top 10, with titles from mainstays of those genres including James Patterson, Catherine Coulter, John Sandford, and Faye Kellerman. There was also one lone nonfiction title this month, the conspiracy theory-laden Killing Patton by Bill O'Reilly.

The following list comprises titles from across all genres, downloaded from both our website and mobile site.

1.		The Christmas Wedding Ring (fiction, romance) by Susan Mallery The ever-impending push of the holiday season is upon us, evidenced by this month's #1 most downloaded ebook. Although listed as a nonfiction title, the conspiracy theory-heavy content within veers pretty close to fiction the majority of the time. But why let facts get in the way of a good story? Read for yourself and make up your own conclusions.
3.		The Perfect Witness (fiction, suspense thriller) by Iris Johansen A twist-filled thriller that reads like a mashup of Gone Girl and The Dead Zone. Author Iris Johansen gives us the story of a woman who can read minds (literally!) and whose photographic memory lands her in the Witness Protection Program after she sees a mob-land killing. Now her cover is blown, her family is in danger, and she’s on the run. The suspense is high and the action over the top in this literary thrill ride.
4.		Deadline (fiction, mystery & suspense) by John Sandford The 8th book in the Virgil Flowers Series opens with a school board meeting in which a vote is taken on whether to authorize the killing of a local reporter. From there, our hero Flowers winds up looking into a dog-napping case which lands him right smack in the middle of a murder that's—you guessed it—a local reporter. Small-town suspense, politics, and corruption all add up to one fast-paced thriller with just enough mystery elements to keep you guessing until the very last page.
5.		The Lost Key (fiction, thriller) by Catherine Coulter The latest entry in the international spy and thriller series, Agent Drummond and his partner are called on to investigate the stabbing of a naval historian and antiquities dealer on Wall Street. The man's last dying words, “The key is in the lock.” Can Drummond find the key to unlock that cryptic lock in time?
6.		Private Down Under (fiction, thriller) by James Patterson With the 7th book in the Private Series, James Patterson graces our top 10 list for another month. This time, he's taking the detectives down under! At a glittering launch party overlooking the iconic Australian Opera House, Private Sydney throws open its doors. The party is interrupted when a blood-soaked and bullet-ridden stranger staggers in the building. The bodies quickly mount up over the next few days, but who is the oft-kilter killer?
