3 Great Books to Read Before Starting School

By Sarah S. RSS Tue, September 1, 2015

Going to school is an exciting, nerve-wracking experience—whether it’s your first day of Kindergarten or you’re a wise, experienced third grader. Either way, having good conversations about what your child can expect is a great way to make a smooth transition into a successful year of school.

Here are a few books to get your child excited for school.

Wow! School! by Robert Neubecker is chock-full of vibrant, busy scenes in a school. This oversize, nearly wordless book is a sort of I Spy of a busy, multiethnic class and their school.

Ready and Waiting for You by Judi Moreillon invites readers to lift the flaps to reveal more and more bouncing, rhythmic text about who is excited to meet YOU at school.

ROAR!!! In Dinosaur Vs. School by Bob Shea, a little dinosaur conquers snacktime, music time, and arts and crafts. But how about clean-up time? With a little help from his friends and a few ROARs, it's no problem.
