October 2015 Early Literacy Calendar

By Sarah S. RSS Thu, October 1, 2015

As if right on cue, as soon as the calendar page flipped to October this morning, we felt a crisp autumn air gust through the Free Library!

Traditional and unique holidays this month include World Smile Day the first Friday of the month, World Teacher's Day on October 5th, and probably the most anticipated holiday in October for little ghouls and goblins, Halloween!

Or maybe just fall down the rabbit hole this month over at The Rosenbach of The Free Library of Philadelphia with their wonderful new exhibition focusing on the 150th anniversary of Lewis Carrol's Alice in Wonderland.

This month's Early Literacy calendar and links, compiled by Free Library of Philadelphia's children's librarians, is once again full of great suggestions that parents and caregivers can engage in with their children to help nurture and develop the five necessary Early Literacy skills of Reading, Writing, Talking, Singing, and Playing.
