Winter Holiday-Themed Short Story Collections

It's winter! It's the holiday season! You know what would be a great idea right now? Escaping into a collection of Young Adult wintery/holiday themed novels while your mom tries to get you to wash the dishes and your weird cousin says weird things and everyone else is taking a nap in front of the tv.

We’re going to take it to the way-back machine this year, because books don’t have an expiration date and the holidays are the perfect time for the oldies but goodies.  (Seriously, it's classics time people!)

Here are my suggestions to maintain cozy reading warmness:

Let It Snow: Three Holiday Romances
With contributions from Maureen Johnson, John Green, and Lauren Myracle, you cannot go wrong with this Lifetime TV Holiday Special in book format. Seriously, ask your studious niece—she knows what I’m talking about.

My True Love Gave To Me: Twelve Holiday Stories
Edited by Stephanie Perkins with stories by Rainbow Rowell, Matt de la Pena, Jenny Han, and David Levithan, this is the who’s who of contemporary YA awesomeness. Coming in at a whopping 336 pages, it is a bit of a brick but grab some pillows and settle in—you can thank me later.

Holidays On Ice
Ever want to know what being a helper elf for Santa is like? How about a snarky review of a children’s Christmas pageant? Ok, so technically this is an "adult" book, but I think we can all agree that David Sedaris is so screamingly funny and sarcastic that it might as well be for teens. This is hands down one of my all-time favorite stocking stuffers because the irreverence of the stories reminds me to slow down. December is just a month and nothing is as dramatic or as funny as a little story called "Seasons Greetings To Our Friends And Family!!" featuring the epic (but cheerfully told) downfall of a family as glimpsed through their annual holiday missive.

Hope you have some happy holidays and a cozy winter!
