February 2017 Early Literacy Calendar

By Sarah S. RSS Mon, February 6, 2017

February may be short on days but it is long on holidays and events to celebrate throughout Philadelphia, including Chinese New Year, Presidents' Day, Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday), and the most love-ly holiday during the month – Valentine’s Day! We hope you spend the day with the people (and books!) that you love the most.

Also throughout February, we'll be celebrating Black History Month with events, blog posts, booklists, and more! Check out the educational video series below, tailored for young children.

This month's Early Literacy calendar and links, compiled by Free Library of Philadelphia's children's librarians, is full of great suggestions that parents and caregivers can engage in with their children to help nurture and develop the five necessary Early Literacy skills of Reading, Writing, Talking, Singing, and Playing.
