Spend Your Snow Day With The Free Library!

By Kate C. RSS Thu, February 9, 2017

Is today a snow day for you or your little ones? Spend it with the Free Library!

Our system is open for business, but as always, we recommend checking in with your neighborhood library location before heading out in this blustery weather. If you’d rather pass the time curled up on the couch under a blanket (we totally don’t blame you!), here are a few ways you can still take advantage of your Free Library card’s many offerings during the snowstorm:

  • Stream movies, television shows, music, audiobooks, and graphic novels directly to your computer or mobile device using Hoopla
  • Read and download your favorite magazines with Zinio
  • Learn a new language (or brush up on an old one) using Mango Languages
  • Sign in to Brainfuse to interface with a tutor for homework help

Don’t have a card yet? You can sign up online and receive a temporary card instantly! A Free Library card is available at no cost to anyone who lives, works, pays taxes, or goes to school in the City of Philadelphia. In addition, anyone who lives in the state of Pennsylvania can obtain a Free Library card without charge. Out-of-state residents can obtain a card by paying an annual fee of $50.00.

Your card gives you access to thousands of books, DVDs, CDs, and other research materials through our catalog, as well as access to our collections of digital media, online databases, and so much more!
