Once you take a break from all of the great reading suggestions during this year's Children's Book Week, May is also a great month to get outside and play! We have lots to celebrate this month, including Cinco de Mayo on May 5, Mother’s Day on May 14, and Memorial Day on May 29. Ramadan begins on May 27, too! If you prefer a quirkier holiday, how about National Chocolate Chip Day on May 15 or Tap Dance Day on May 25?
It’s always fun to visit one of Philadelphia’s great museums, but May 18 is International Museum Day. What a perfect day to ride the carousel at the Please Touch Museum!
This month's Early Literacy calendar and links, compiled by Free Library of Philadelphia's children's librarians, is full of great suggestions that parents and caregivers can engage in with their children to help nurture and develop necessary Early Literacy skills!

Stop in at your local neighborhood library and ask a children's librarian for more tips and suggestions on Early Literacy; we're always here to help!
