Howllo Boils and Ghouls!,
Welcome back to the Free Library of Phrightadelphia's blog, on this most haunted of holidays—Halloween!
Besides the usual seasonal scares that arise from the grave this time of year, 2018 marks two historical milestones of the macabre: the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and the return of one masked Michael Myers to the creepy cinema. You can find both literary and celluloid monsters in our catacomb of a catalog.
If you'd rather stream some screams this All Hallow's Eve, I implore you to explore our Digital Media Portal! Hoopla has plenty of children's Halloween-themed videos and music to devour, while there are a plethora of Halloween horrors for adult viewing as well. If you can survive through the night, you could even screen a whole marathon of fright flicks from Kanopy, who have a curated list of 31 films, one for each day of October! The only talisman you need for all of the above devilish delights is your library card!
But don't let all of the above stop you from visiting your neighborhood library for Halloween celebrations ranging from creepy crafts and spooky storytimes to costume parades and even a Zombie Prom!
Last but not least, we've assembled a Halloween-themed soundtrack for all of your fiendish follies, with each song having "Halloween" in the title and / or the lyrics referencing Halloween!
Take a listen... if you dare!
Don't forget to follow our Spotify channel to check out past and future curated playlists.
