At Home with BRIC: Finding Your Target Audience

By Gillian R. RSS Tue, September 29, 2020

The Business Resource and Innovation Center’s (BRIC) free business resources are accessible anywhere!

That means you can conduct business research at your leisure from the comfort of your home. So grab your pup, a caffeinated beverage, and your business plan template—it’s time to get your research on!

Whether you’re a new entrepreneur or you’re an established business owner, it’s always a good time to explore your target audience. Identifying your target customers will make it easier for you to determine where to market your product or service. Marketing can be expensive and time-consuming, and you don’t want your marketing campaign to spread your business too thin.

So how do we find our target audience? In this section of your business plan, you will seek to find potential customers or clients. Once you determine who your potential customers are, you need to find out where they are, and conduct research into where opportunities exist within the market in order to develop appropriate business and marketing strategies to target customers.

Does this sound like a tall order? Never fear, your trusty BRIC business librarian is here to break it down for you.

Check out our webinar introducing you to demographic research.

In this comprehensive class, recorded on September 16, 2020, you will learn how to find and narrow your target audience using the Free Library's business databases and other free resources. We will also discuss how to make use of demographics, psychographics, market research, and open data.

So, have your library card number and PIN, and BRIC’s Guide to Demographic Research ready, press play, and let’s dive in!
