Monday Poets Turns 25! View Ephemera from Over the Years

By Sam P. RSS Mon, October 5, 2020

The Literature Department at Parkway Central Library is celebrating the 25th year of our flagship program, Monday Poets!

Over the years, the department has hosted poets from all over the country, and has always made it their mission to host Philadelphia-based poets, featuring local poet laureates and regularly holding open mics. This has helped foster a sense of community among local writers, and has helped give voice to as many poetic minds as possible.

Here is a selection of Monday Poets promotional materials over the years, kept in the Literature Department's vertical files.

The 25th year of Monday Poets kicks off this evening, Monday, October 5, with Lynn Levin and Michele Belluomini, who will read during a virtual event starting at 6:30 p.m. The event is free, with registration required.

How have I not heard of this program? I have lived in the city for half of this program's lifetime and have never heard of it. Some improved visibility would be great.
