Bicycling Resources for National Bike Month

Happy National Bike Month!

Founded in 1956 by the League of American Bicyclists, National Bicycle Month is full of activities and initiatives to inspire people to take to the road on bikes rather than cars. If you’re heading back into the office, working from home, or looking to introduce a little more exercise into your schedule, bicycling can be a useful and fun option.

If you don’t know how to ride a bike (or are a little uncertain about getting on one after a few years), the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia is here to help. They have classes each month that can get you back on your wheels in no time.

To see bicycling resources and upcoming events, check out the websites for the League of American Bicyclists, the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, and the Circuit Trails.

If you’re looking for something more historical, check out these bike-related photos, maps, and prints in our Digital Collections. These materials are a part of our Special Collections and can be seen in person with a research appointment.

Happy cycling!

Many thanks to Chris B. for his useful input!
