Apply Now to be Philadelphia's Next Poet Laureate!

By Administrator RSS Mon, September 20, 2021

Calling all Philadelphia poets! The Free Library of Philadelphia and its partners invite you to submit your application for the opportunity to represent our city as its next Poet Laureate.

The City of Philadelphia Poet Laureate program is managed by the Free Library of Philadelphia’s Central Public Services Division and guided by a governing committee composed of local poets, educators, arts-organization professionals, and Free Library staff members.

The individual we seek will demonstrate a commitment to the power of poetry to inspire people throughout Philadelphia's neighborhoods. The Poet Laureate will commit to a two-year term, mentor two Youth Poet Laureates over the course of their term, and engage with the city through readings, events, and a signature project of their choosing. The stipend for the two-year term is $5000, paid in two installments of $2500.

Applications are being accepted now through 5:00 p.m. EST on October 15, 2021.
