A new two-week film education program in partnership with One Book, One Philadelphia whose mission is to promote film literacy and critical thinking by encouraging all Philadelphians to watch, study, and discuss a single film--One Film will kick off with a free “opening night” reception and screening of this year's featured selection, Steven Spielberg's Empire of the Sun, on Thursday, February 21, at 6:00 p.m. Mark your calendars for this or one of the seven other screenings scheduled during the One Film program period, and be sure to check out some of the related programs--including lectures, workshops, panel discussions, even quizzos--running through March 5. (Also note that there are 200 DVD copies of Empire of the Sun in circulation throughout the Free Library system, available for home screenings on your own schedule.)
