Re-Creating a New World: One Book, One Philadelphia Finale with Jericho Brown
Online
Join us to celebrate a season of discussing The Tradition. Following a reading and conversation with One Book, One Philadelphia 2021 author, Jericho Brown, and Philadelphia poet Ursula Rucker, we’ll listen to an intergenerational panel discuss what it means to re-create our world.
Panelists include Sonia Sanchez and Yolanda Wisher, both former Philadelphia Poet Laureates; Sheyla Street, a Central High School student, activist, varsity athlete, and co-founder of the Philly Black Students Alliance; and Kemar Jewel, an Afro-Queer international director and choreographer.
Panelists will discuss how knowledge of our history informs how we collectively reimagine our society, and how we organize around the issues we see today combined with all the lessons we have inherited from the past. The conversation will address how we effectively create new traditions together for a new world.
