In the Path of Islam Lecture Series: Islam 101, Presented by Imam Suetwedien Abdullah Muhammad.
Virtual
Join us for an inspiring and motivational lecture. Imam Suetwedien Abdullah Muhammad is currently the Imam at Masjid Muhammad. His unshakable dedication to improving the lives of community members began long ago in the East Germantown neighborhood. During his tenure at Masjid Isha, he initiated successful programs addressing issues of rampant crime, drugs, and violence. The area surrounding the masjid on Price Street improved and became known as the “Five Points Corner", a revitalized and safe neighborhood.
Imam Suetwedien is also known for his success working with the youth. He assisted in resolving school unrest in Martin Luther King Jr. High School and helped to establish Jum’ah prayer in Martin Luther King Jr. High School, the first public school to hold prayer service. His role as a peacemaker has been featured in local and national media. Today, Imam Suetwedien continues to focus on community initiatives and collaborative work dedicated to improving social services, the redevelopment of blighted areas, and entrepreneurial and job training programs. Imam Suetwedien established The Five Points Community Development Corporation to help achieve and maintain his vision of drug-free, safe communities.
The lecture will be held both in-person and virtual.
To attend the lecture in person, please visit Masjid Muhammad at 414 E Penn St, Philadelphia, PA 19144 on Sunday, May 8 at 11:00 a.m.
