From Armstrong to Bridges: Celebrating a Century of Genius in Black American Music
Independence Library
As part of Black History Month, we are excited to present- “From Louis Armstrong to Leon Bridges- Celebrating a century of genius in Black American Music”, a live musical performance spotlighting the original compositions of some of the most influential Black artists and composers of the last 100 years. Expect a fun and diverse journey through the music of Louis Armstrong, Thelonius Monk, Roberta Flack, Alicia Keys, Leon Bridges and more. The band will be led by Saxophonist/Vocalist Robin Clabby and feature an A-list crew of Philadelphia area musicians. Robin recently relocated to the Philadelphia area from New Orleans where he spent 12 years touring nationally and internationally with the Brass-a-holics. He was recently honored to contribute bari sax to PJ Morton's current Grammy nominated album "Watch the Sun". The performance is free and open to the public and is sponsored by AFM Local 77 (the Philadelphia musician's union) and the Music Performance Trust Fund.
