Walking Tour: Philadelphia's Chinatown (Chinese language)
Philadelphia's Chinatown
POSTPONED: Stay tuned for new date!
Philadelphia's Chinatown traces its start back to 1871, when a Cantonese immigrant named Lee Fong opened a laundry business at 913 Race Street. Chinatown stands out as a vibrant part of Center City, where generations of families have lived, worked, played, and worshiped. Sarah Yeung, an urban planner and the founder of Sojourner Consulting, will lead a walking tour of Chinatown with Eddie Wong, the housing manager of the On Lok House. Their tour will focus on stories of the ordinary people--small business owners, working-class families, and others--who have given Chinatown life over the past 150 years.
This tour is designed for seniors. Interpretation will be available in both Mandarin and Cantonese. There will be a maximum of 60 minutes of walking with 30 minutes of sit-down discussion.
